Despite its strength and visual appeal, solid wood furniture isn’t self-cleaning. You will have to clean it from time to time. Use a lint-free cloth and get it damp with ordinary water. To protect the furniture made from hardwood, try to keep the level of humidity in the room at around 35 or 40 percent. Also, try to avoid leaving it in direct sunlight, or in front of your fireplace, heat vents or radiators
you can find good quality furniture waxes, available locally or online. Applying a coat of a fine paste wax, with the proper colour blended-in, will eliminate the discolouration from scratches or nicks. It will give the piece a soft & satiny shine.
